Presentation
A 13-year-old Mexican girl was brought to the doctor by her father for a rash that developed on her face over the last 3 days. The patientโs father mentioned that his daughter frequently scratched the lesions. On examination, scaly and crusted pink papules and plaques were seen on her cheeks, nose, and upper cutaneous lip. Conjunctival injection was seen in her eyes. The patient had no known allergies, insect bites (at least that she can recall), or history of dermatological disease. The patient and her family owned and managed a farm and she regularly completed outdoor chores. She avoided her chores since developing the rash as she noticed that sun exposure caused more discomfort. She appeared well and did not have any systemic symptoms.
